Highlights

Izu Peninsula

This volcanic peninsula, officially designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark and an integral part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, boasts a captivating fusion of natural splendor and cultural heritage. It offers breathtaking landscapes such as Jogasaki coast and Dogashima shaped by geological forces while the area around Shuzenji, where you will be staying 2nights, offers a glimpse into history dating back to the medieval era. You can also enjoy views of Mount Fuji on clear days and the number of foreign tourists remains relatively less compared to Hakone or Lake Kawaguchi area, with particularly few large packages tour groups visiting this area.

Matsumoto & the Nakasendo post towns in Nagano

In Matsumoto, the greatest attraction is Matsumoto Castle, which has been designated as a National Treasure. If you are visiting Japan, a medieval castle is certainly a place worth exploring. While Japan is home to many castles, only 12 have original surviving main keeps, and Matsumoto Castle is one of them. The Nakasendo, one of the five highways connecting Kyoto and Edo (present-day Tokyo), still retains traditional post towns that preserve the charm of the past. On this journey, you will visit Narai-juku and Tsumago-juku, two of the best-preserved post towns, where you can enjoy the historic streetscapes of old Japan.

Miyajima & Iwakuni

During our stay in Hiroshima, we will spend two nights in Miyajimaguchi, located across from Miyajima Island, and dedicate a full day to exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine as well as nearby Iwakuni and the iconic Kintaikyo Bridge. Since Itsukushima Shrine tends to become crowded from around 11 a.m., the program is arranged so that we can visit beforehand. Our visit coincides with high tide at approximately 10:30 a.m., offering the perfect opportunity to witness the shrine seemingly floating on the sea.
After exploring Miyajima, we will continue to Iwakuni in neighboring Yamaguchi Prefecture. The highlight here is Kintaikyo Bridge, regarded as one of Japan’s three most famous bridges. Comprising five wooden arches and built entirely without nails, it features a unique structure where five drum-shaped spans rest atop stone piers. As one of the world’s rare wooden arch bridges, it is an architectural treasure. The bridge is also celebrated as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.

Kyoto

No journey to Japan would be complete without visiting the ancient capital of Kyoto—a destination that captures the hearts of all who step into its timeless charm. This tour includes a three-night stay in Kyoto, providing ample time to leisurely explore the city's historic and cultural treasures.
To avoid the crowds, we begin our days early with visits to the renowned Higashiyama district and the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Arashiyama, another popular area, is also scheduled for the early morning to ensure a more tranquil experience. Beyond the central sights, we’ll venture into the serene northern countryside to discover the rustic beauty of Ohara and Kibune, where highlights include Sanzen-in Temple and the atmospheric Kifune Shrine.
Our exploration extends beyond temples and shrines. We’ll visit the traditional thatched-roof village of Miyama, offering a glimpse into Japan’s pastoral heritage. You'll also enjoy a tour of a historic sake brewery, a hands-on introduction to the Japanese tea ceremony, and a special evening of traditional Kyoto cuisine accompanied by a Maiko —an experience that truly captures the spirit of Kyoto.

Nara and Mount Yoshino

While Nara is best known for Nara Park and its friendly deer, as well as the Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji Temple, venturing a bit further reveals lesser-known gems that remain largely untouched by international tourism. One such place is Kashihara, considered the birthplace of Japan. It is historically significant as the site where Emperor Jimmu, Japan’s first emperor, is said to have ascended the throne. In the 7th century, it also became home to Fujiwara-kyo, Japan’s first capital city before Nara and Kyoto. Nestled in the nearby mountains is Hase-dera Temple, another hidden treasure known for its serene atmosphere and seasonal beauty. The journey continues to Mount Yoshino, a destination so renowned for cherry blossoms that it is often hailed as Japan’s most famous sakura viewing spot. Here, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of some 30,000 cherry trees blanketing the mountainside in delicate pink.
