- From Central to East Hokkaido, Season of alpine wildflowers in Mt.Daisetsu
This is a well-designed 6-day tour of Mt.Daisetsu National Park and Shiretoko peninsula, Lake Kussharo & Lake Mashu part of Akan Mashu National Park, packed with activities in the nature and alpine flora in full bloom.
In Hokkaido, the natural environment is comparable to that of 3,000-meter mountains in Honshu, and a variety of alpine plants can be observed. A lot of wild flowers like Aleutian avens, Miyama-kimbai (Potentilla matsumurae), Ezokozakura (Primula cuneifolia var.cuneifolia) are blooming in July. The queen of alpine flora Komakusa (Dicentra peregrina (Rudolph)) also can be observed at Ginsendai in this season. Join us for a flower hike in Hokkaido mountains when big cities are struggling through first heat waves. - Explore the UNESCO World heritage site of Shiretoko Peninsula
We hike through the primeval forests of the five lakes of Shiretoko, feeling the breath of the wild forest - and the sea breeze, when on the boat cruise to Rusha area where brown bears are often seen. Shiretoko peninsula, formed by ancient volcanic activity, is a true nature kingdom, home to nearly 300 species of birds and more than 30 species of mammals. The area’s sheer beauty attracts nature lovers and photographers from all over the world. In summer, when the forests are greening up, wild animals are in the midst of raising their young. Ezo shika deers, brown bears, and red foxes often appear with their young in this season. - Magnificent landscape of lakes Kussharo & Mashu, part of Akan-Mashu national park
We visit several viewpoints of lakes Kussharo & Mashu area to enjoy the scenery formed 150,000 years ago. Thousands of years of volcanic upheaval have sculpted Akan-Mashu’s extraordinary landscape.
Onneto is a mysterious lake nestled in the foothills of Mount Oakan, and is one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains. It is also called "Goshiki-numa" (five-colored swamp) because the color of the lake changes depending on the wind direction, weather, and viewpoint location.
Flower Hike in the “Garden of the Gods" of Daisetsuzan National Park
We will visit Ginsendai and take you on a flower hike along the trail of Akadake, which is blessed with alpine flora, to Komakusa-daira, where Komakusa (Dicentra peregrina (Rudolph)), the "queen of alpine flora," blooms. We will visit Asahidake, the main peak of Mt. Daisetsuzan, by ropeway, and then move to Susoaidaira, where a large colony of Aleutian avens and various other alpine plants colorfully cover the area.
Daisetsuzan National Park, located in the center of Hokkaido and known as “the roof of Hokkaido”, is the largest national park in Japan, with 2,000-meter-high mountain range. In the past, the indigenous Ainu people called this area "Kamuimintara" (which means “the garden where the gods play”) and attributed great respect to this region. More than 250 species of alpine plants grow in this harsh natural environment.

Shiretoko the World Heritage site
Formed by volcanic activities and uplift of tectonic plate, Shiretoko peninsula has unique sea cliffs, biodiversity, the amazingly diverse landscapes you can look forward to seeing. The unique wildlife of Shiretoko was registered as World's Natural Heritage in 2005. In winter the ice algae brought by drifting ice plays important role in nutrients supplied to local marine ecosystem - blooms of ice algae and other phytoplankton is the food for small fish and shellfish, and these in turn become rich food source for bigger fish like salmon and marine mammals, and birds, including the Steller's sea eagle and the White-tailed eagle.
